01 — Setup

Fresh Installation on Windows

Six steps from download to full RGB sync. Verify integrity, close conflicts, and scan every device.

2

Verify SHA256

Match hash before launch: 043c818adf761c34e43d5dc562d3a96068be74bf06fff8e937ac38be44928b71

3

Close conflicting apps

Quit legacy vendor RGB suites that lock the same controllers.

4

Run as administrator

USB and motherboard controllers initialize correctly with elevated permissions.

5

Launch Signal-RGB

Guest mode for instant access, or register for community layouts.

6

Scan devices

Confirm each peripheral appears before applying effects.

02 — Hardware

Identify All Compatible Devices

Most keyboards, mice, headsets, GPUs, and motherboards auto-detect. Fans and strips may need manual pairing.

Manual fan or strip setup

1

Open the device manager panel inside Signal-RGB.

2

Select the unrecognized controller chip or header type.

3

Follow the wizard — SMBus auto-dump in 2.5.54 simplifies many boards.

4

Assign to your profile and test a solid color before complex effects.

If detection fails, confirm no other RGB program claims the device in the background.

Wanted level intensity

1

Open Game Integrations in the main menu.

2

Search for your title and enable the integration pack.

3

Assign target devices and launch full screen or borderless.

4

Adjust sensitivity if effects feel too intense in menus.

Vertical monitor tip: Update to 2.5.54 or disable Screen Ambience on vertical displays until profiles refresh.

04 — Performance

Fan Curves & Safety

Treat fan changes like BIOS tuning — purposeful, measured, and reversible.

  • Never set all fans to minimum during stress tests or rendering.
  • Ramp aggressively above 75°C CPU or hot GPU zones.
  • Change one fan at a time and observe for ten minutes.
  • Document original profiles before experimenting.
Lowering a struggling fan without understanding load can cause thermal throttling.

05 — Security

Antivirus Warnings Explained

Security tools may flag Signal-RGB because it accesses SMBus, USB descriptors, and lighting firmware — expected for hardware utilities.

False Positive Protocol

This is not proof of infection. Verify the published SHA256, then follow the checklist below.

Cancel install if hash does not match the published SHA256 value.
If hash matches, submit the file to your AV vendor as a false positive.
Add a targeted exclusion only for the verified installer path.
Re-scan after updates — each build has a unique hash.

Common Problems & Solutions

Quick fixes for the issues users hit most often.

Devices not detected

Quit other RGB apps, replug USB hubs, reboot, then scan. Enable SMBus auto-dump on supported boards.

Effects out of sync

Keep all hardware in one profile. Remove duplicate assignments from old vendor startup entries.

Game integration inactive

Run borderless fullscreen, confirm the pack is enabled, and check focus permissions after Windows updates.

High CPU during ambience

Lower capture resolution or limit affected devices. Disable ambience on secondary monitors.

Crash on startup

Clear cached layouts, reinstall 2.5.54, and re-import profiles one at a time to isolate corrupt macros.

Pro tips

General Best Practices

Keep one RGB controller app active to avoid driver conflicts.
Export profiles before major Windows updates.
Use wired USB for latency-sensitive reactive effects.
Read the trust policy for acceptable use.
